Joined the staff of First Baptist Church in January 2007.
Salvation and Call to Ministry: I accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior at age 14 during a youth retreat at Lake Tia O'Kata in Louisville, Mississippi. While attending Clarke College in 1978 I surrendered to full time Christian service. I have served churches in Florida, Louisiana, and Mississippi.
I am married to Elaine Jones Pounds and we have three sons, Jeremy, Jason and Joey, who are all married and live in other states.
It has been my joy for many years to use my talents and my calling to lead God's children in worship. I love to lead them in songs that will bring praise to God, while at the same time convict the heart of the one who does not know Him as Lord and Savior. I also love to teach and bring out the talents of others in order to be of service in worship to our Lord.
Along with the music worship of FBC, I have the wonderful pleasure of working with our senior adults. This is always a ministry area that brings fun, laughter, and the joy of hearing their wisdom of years spent with the Lord.
